Stay Comfortable Come Rain Or Shine With Southern Comfort

He's a big man wearing tiny trunks, awful sunglasses and not much else. He sounds like a beer-bellied fashion disaster, but he's the coolest man on the internet - and now he's back to take a leisurely stroll around the world in all weathers.

Dos Equis might have the most interesting man in the world, but Southern Comfort has the most comfortable.

The internet first met the Buddha of Cool as he took a walk on the beach, or rather, strutted his stuff down the sand in a parade of laid-back self-confidence. Now the king of cool is back, taking his trunks on tour.

Comfortable Weather Guy is seen, like last time, on the beach cradling a tumbler of SoCo. But instead of tropical sunshine, the sky is now filled with turbulent rain clouds and lightning. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense until viewers click through to the ad's companion website.

Here they can enter their location and the website cleverly figures out the current weather in that city and shows the big man enjoying his tipple in the local climate. It's a fun way to bring the silent character to life, but, admittedly, he does lose a bit of his cool when he awkwardly does tai chi in the Philippines, and, still in trunks, does a ski jump, thanks to some poor quality CGI.

Put together by Wieden + Kennedy, the ad attempts to capture the original coolness and apply it to a new setting. Sadly, the King of Cool's crown has slipped a bit, looking more like a very lost fat bloke than a man confident enough to wear trunks in any weather.

Still, the ad has gathered over 1,000 views in less that 24 hours. So, although he may not be quite as cool as he was, the popularity of the first video is bound to create some interest in this campaign.

Southern Comfort Support Whatever's Comfortable

Whatever's comfortable for you is A-OK, say Southern Comfort. Even if that is ill-fitting burgundy swimming trunks and a handlebar moustache.

Wandering down the beach in loafers with an oily beer belly, all this greasy fellow needs is a glass of SoCo to feel comfy. And that's all that matters - unless you're one of the sober onlookers who wanted nothing more than a day on the beach with a gorgeous view - in which case you're out of luck when this guy's around.

'Beach' is the first advert by Southern Comfort with its new agency Wieden and Kennedy. The campaign celebrates 'Whatever's Comfortable' for those who are completely comfortable in their own skin, without a care for what those around them think of their questionable beachwear.

So next time you see a tubby chap in Speedos sipping on a SoCo, don't judge him, join him, and your own cool glass might just materialise out of thin air like his did.
