Keep Your Head in the Right Place With BMW's New Safety Ad (NSFW)

Nudity has been in vogue this week on the Viral Video Chart, so to continue the theme, here's the latest BMW ad created by Bakery Films to promote the car maker's Lane Departure Warning system.
According to BMW's blurb, "..we all get distracted for a moment now and again. It can happen behind the wheel, too – with drastic consequences. So, on long and tiring journeys, the Lane Departure Warning system, from BMW ConnectedDrive, makes sure you only leave the lane you are in when you really want to."
I was trying out a similar system on Volvo's V60 T6 last week, which we had in for review, and I came to the conclusion that I'd probably crash before the system warned me of my impending doom.
Naturally, it takes a certain frequency of bumpbump-bumpbump over a series of cat's eyes (or rumble-strips) before the system activates, otherwise it would be setting off false alarms across every suburban crossing, so I remain to be convinced that such safety systems really offer any worthwhile benefit.
BMW's system is perhaps a little cleverer, using an integrated camera fixed in the rear-view mirror which monitors and feeds back information to a computer regarding road markings and vehicle positioning.
The driver is then notified by a vibration through the steering wheel if the system recognises that the car is in danger of leaving its lane unintentionally.
The wheel will not vibrate if the indicator has been activated prior to the car leaving its lane, and the system automatically shuts itself off in strong sunlight (or presumably fog) where it cannot detect the road markings ahead.
The ad, which features a few seconds of nudity, does a pretty good job of getting the system's benefits across and could easily be sanitized for TV. So perhaps you'll see it either at a cinema or in a living room near you soon.
Just remember to keep your head in the right place, or at least leave the mind-wandering until you're parked up safe and sound.
