Lego Animation Shows Team USA's Fab Fives Vault To Gold

The women's gymnastics finals is one of the Olympics' most loved events. Whether it's the tight lycra or the gravity defying stunts, there's something for everyone.

After Team USA's 'Fab Five' won the gold this week, the world went mad for McKayla Maroney's near-perfect vault.

It was the first time the US had won an all-round team medal since 1996, and The Guardian have released 'Brick By Brick' a Lego reenactment for anybody who missed the legendary moment.

Produced by PHD, the animated reconstruction shows the tense competition between America and Russia, with Maroney's performance ultimately stealing the show.

Launched only yesterday, the clip has already racked up over 27,140 views and 3,620 shares.

The chunky, plastic athletes in this film probably prove it isn't just the skimpy outfits that fuel our love for gymnastics after all.

Disclosure: Unruly is distributing this video on behalf of LEGO. This post is not part of the commercial plan and is written by the editorial team at Unruly, whose opinions are- always independent, sometimes scurrilous, and never knowingly under-researched.

David Beckham Surprises Team GB Fans In New Olympic Ad From Adidas

How would you react if the world's most famous footballer jumped out and caught you frolicking in a photobooth?

Well, that is what happened to 60 people at the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, who were asked to don the shirts as part of the Adidas #takethestage campaign ahead of the Olympics.

But as they were pulling their cringy poses, little did they know that David Beckham was just around the corner waiting to surprise them.

As the hysterical reactions here show, Beckham's still got it, despite not being picked for the Olympic team.

Everyone loves a prank ad, and Adidas has been extra clever by roping in Beckham, who was part of the effort to bring the Games to London.

There are few footballers who could be recognised by literally everyone involved in the prank, and evoke reactions of sheer excitement. One young boy and his mother even burst into tears at his appearance!

Beckham is at the forefront of a number of London 2012 advertising spots, including Samsung's official Olympics campaign, and is obviously still a public favourite, with the ad gaining 412,671 views and 13,795 shares in just 24 hours.

McDonald's Proudly Sponsors Staying Up For The Olympics

Think the Olympics is tough on Londoners? Rushing to catch the Tube among an ever-thickening sea of tourists is certainly no picnic. But spare a thought for viewers on the other side of the world struggling to stay up and watch the Games through the night.

Well, Olympic sponsors McDonald's not only spared them a thought, but created an entire ad campaign just for them.

Created by DDB New Zealand, the commercial features a boy desperately trying to stay awake while watching the Games during the early hours.

His father, who really doesn't want his son to witness the Olympics live, takes drastic measures to stop him. But the son fights back.

When the television is removed from his room, he goes downstairs. When the dog barks, awaking his father, he builds a den, feeds the dog, and plugs in headphones.

But rather than being irritated further by his son's desire to watch the sports, the father joins him in the den with a McDonald's. The slogan, 'Proud supporters of everyone staying up,' finishes the ad.

Despite debate around the company's spot as an official sponsor of the Olympics, the video, which is shown in 90 and 30-second clips in Australia and New Zealand, has already attracted a lot of interest online.

Take a look for yourself below.

New Interactive BA Campaign Offers Viewers The Chance To Have A Plane Cruise Down Their Street

It seems every newspaper, billboard and commercial break in Britain is packed with Olympic ads at the moment. But just in case you have somehow managed to miss them, British Airways is prepared to taxi a plane past your house just to remind you.

As the national carrier, BA has been waving the flag for Team GB, and its latest TV ad encourages the rest of us Brits to get behind our athletes - by staying at home.

It seems like a strange idea for an airline to run an ad that tells people not to fly, but the clip makes London look so exciting that nobody would want to miss out.

The brilliantly-timed ad hit the airwaves last night, capturing a massive audience during England Vs Ukraine. An accompanying Facebook campaign also has an incredible interactive version of the clip.

Both ads feature a BA jet landing at Heathrow and rolling straight off the runway into the heart of London. Excitement builds among the passengers as the plane rolls past the capital's famous landmarks toward the Olympic Park. The Clash's London Calling builds the anticipation until the jet arrives at the stadium and the passengers are greeted by a roaring, Union Jack-waving crowd.

Things get really special on British Airway's Facebook page, which allows users to enter their postcodes to unlock footage which shows the plane rolling down their street.

Put together by BBH, the original ad is proving popular online, winning over 4,000 views in less than 24 hours.

The airline may be suggesting that Brits stay where they are, but it's sure to encourage overseas visitors.

Samsung Launch New Olympics Spot Starring Becks And Jamie Oliver

As anyone who has ever stood shivering on a school playing field knows, sport is not about winning - it's the 'taking part' that matters.

It's a message driven home in the latest Olympic campaign from Samsung. The new spot, created by Cheil Worldwide, features a number of athletes, celebs and public citizens that are all 'taking part' in the London 2012 Olympics.

The ad opens with a range of shots that show people who are trying their upmost in the sport they love, as they express 'it's not about winning, it's about taking part'.

A voiceover then kicks in, 'this is an invitation to the United Kingdom; to 60 million people to experience the Olympic Games as they have never experienced them before.'

Mountaineer Kenton Cool explains he is taking part to 'fulfil a 90-year-old promise' of taking an Olympic medal to the top of Mount Everest, while Paralympian Jon Pollock, Team GB cyclist Victoria Pendleton and footballer David Beckham all deliver messages about 'taking part'.

Beckham's 'Beethoven Ode to Joy' spot that we blogged about on Friday is being used to support the campaign, as the brand attempts to push the features of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 model.

This new spot already has just short of 500k views, although it has a long way to go if it's going to match the views and share rates of Olympic ads such as P&G and Adidas.

Cadbury's Olympic Dairy Milk Ad Is Simply the Best

What are the key ingredients for a pumped-up chocolate advert? Well, you start with an Olympic star, add a Tina Turner power ballad and then finish with a splash of underwater music. Hey presto!

That's right, Cadbury's latest music-themed advert from their 'Keep Team GB Pumped' campaign stars none other than British swimming sensation Rebecca Adlington.

Olympic hopeful Adlington is featured training in the pool along to Tina Turner's Simply The Best - not a bad track to train to, if you ask me.

However, it soon becomes apparent that she is not alone in her quest for success, the pool floor is full of enthusiastic supporters, who sing along with their own rendition of the Turner classic.

With a mix of construction workers, butchers, school boys and even a few knitting grannies, it's clear everyone is cheering her on.

Cadbury, alongside ad agency hypernaked, are doing everything they can to keep Team GB pumped for London 2012, so be sure to check out their Olympic effort below.

To be honest, this effort is far superior to their previous, slightly creepy ad featuring Chris Tomlinson.

In fact, should you fancy yourself as the next Tina Turner, or Justin Bieber for that matter, Cadbury are offering the opportunity for fans to record their singing efforts on their website and feature in their next ad.
