We all get frustrated with our jobs sometimes, but when you're an advertiser you can tell the world just how annoyed you are. This ad may seem to be an American agency having a rant about its clients and colleagues, but it's a bit more than that.
The video by, and for, Deutsch, features a jaded creative storming into his manager's office and launching into a potty-mouthed tirade against clients, the creative process and the advertising world in general.
The manager stares back apathetically as his frustrated underling pours out his heart about not having enough creative freedom. Other ads in the series feature similarly grumpy ads about producers working long hours and account managers missing out on credit for their work.
It seems really strange that Deutsch would run a campaign that suggests that their staff hate working there. But things are not all they appear, the ads are actually promoting the agency's talk at the advertising world's Cannes Lions Festival next week, where they will explain how to avoid scenes like these.
Apparently up to one third of employees at advertising agencies are unsatisfied and plan to change jobs within the year. Deutsch's forum plans to share the secret of keeping staff happy.
Launched 3 days ago, the creative's rant to the manager ad has already won over 23,000 views and 1,000 shares, with the other two clips putting in similarly strong performances.
Let's just hope that as the managers of the advertising world jet off to the French Rivera next week, they remember their poor staff left behind in the office and try to learn how to make them happier.
