There is a blizzard of stats flying around at the moment about which ad won the Super Bowl.
We are no different. Thanks to the Viral Video Chart, we have the definitive real-time measurement tool for tracking the most popular Super Bowl commercials on the social web. We have a chart which tracks all of the Super Bowl 2012 ads, including the teasers, plus a chart which tracks the commercials that were aired during the big game.
If you want to see how these year's entries stack up, there is even a chart which tracks of all of the Super Bowl ads in the history of the event, based on the number of times they have been shared on the social web rather than views.
So which ad won the Super Bowl? Well, to use an American football metaphor, this one is going into overtime. Looking at the state of play as it stands, we know that Volkswagen's The Bark Side was the most shared ad leading up to big event, but after the match we are starting to see new contenders such as M&Ms' Ms Brown ad and Chrysler's "It's Halftime in America" commercials gain traction.
But, just like Sunday's topsy-turvy match, no one can truthfully predict right now who will win the trophy, at least for the time being anyway.
The dust has far from settled. Unlike last year's Super Bowl, we do not have an obvious winner at this early stage. So for the time being, here at Meme Machine we have decided to have a bit of fun and list which ads we thought were the best.
