Nail Polish Brand Launches Surreal Short Film With Tap Dancing Horse

Most ads for beauty products put an attractive and instantly recognisable celebrity in front of the camera and let them preach about how this particular product is the only one for them. This ad for nail polish is a little different - it stars a dancing horse.
OPI nail polish has launched its first short film, called Instinct of Color. It is an entrancing mix of grace, elegance and horseshoes.
It opens in a darkened warehouse for the strangest dance-off you've ever seen. Shades of OPI's range are personified by dancers. For example, "Pink-ing of you" is a poised ballerina, "Red my fortune cookie" is a sassy tap dancer, and "No room for the Blues" is a street dancer with attitude.
And then there's Lady in Black, who is a jet black horse. A bluesy soundtrack mixes soulful lyrics with a thumping techno beat as the ballerina twirls and flexes. She's graceful and hypnotising, but she's got nothing on Lady, who shows her own fancy footwork before leaping into the air, kicking her pink-toned hooves out.
Next up is a sultry tap performance, but Lady's got that covered with her red hooves and some rythmic trotting. She also sees off the street dancer with a display of sass, high kicks and blue varnish. She finally meets her match with the explosive style of "Need Sunglasses", the yellow breakdancer who Lady just can't match, despite an impressive four-legged moonwalk.
Put together by French creatives DAN, the short is stylish, slick and truely surreal. The clip's ability to surprise, awe and amuse with this display of equine elan should drive a fair number of shares.
With over 207,000 views in just 5 days, the clip has garnered over 11,000 shares. We're pretty sure the dramatic dance display will appeal to a wider audience than just those likely to purchase the product.
This is an original idea, well delivered and featuring incredible performances from some talented performers. It's a true thoroughbred.
