The Zombie Invasion Reaches Britain - Craves Pasties Not Brains

Halloween is rapidly approaching and brands are dusting off their fancy dress outfits getting ready to scare their customers into spending some money with them. However, some of them are doing this better than others.

The latest ad for bakery chain Greggs stars some characters whose decomposing flesh is just as flaky as the fresh, hot pastry they crave. It seems the undead have risen and are shuffling around the streets of London looking to feast on resonably-priced sausage rolls and novelty gingerbread men.

This epic trick-or-treat sees the recently-deceased journey through a busy London frightening the pants off of the unsuspecting public.

Street sweepers, tourists and traffic wardens all seem to have succumed to both zombism and hunger. They groan their way through the crowds to reach a Greggs cafe, where humans enjoy tasty snacks and hot drinks.

Suddenly, the animated corpses burst in, sending bacon sandwiches and terrified customers scattering. Luckily, there's a heroic Gregg's employee, armed with a broom, who sweeps the undead back out on to the street. London is safe to enjoy its eclairs for another day.

Put together by Irresistible Films, the guerilla ad has earned over 40,500 views in eight days. The clip invites users to visit Greggs' Facebook page, which tracks the zombie horde as they spread across the country and the spooky cakes they leave in their wake.

Zombie invasions have been used in US ads before, but there's something uniquely British about the undead heading to the high street for a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
