Get Over-Excited About JWT's New Website

'Like teddy bears', 'I like the smell' and 'I wanna touch that' - not exactly the kind of comments you would normally expect from consumers describing a company website.

But then, this is a commercial for ad agency JWT's new website. Of course, the supposedly real testees are completely captivated, mesmerised and extremely over-enthusiastic about the new site.

After all, it would be a very strange ad campaign indeed if they spent the clip complaining about the poor navigation and ugly fonts (not that JWT's site has either of these).

However, it's one thing to be positive about something - it's quite another to be just plain weird.

For example, when asked by the interviewer David what they think, one girl starts to lick the screen, another does an impression of a bug and another starts to talk to the laptop, shushing David. David, however, manages to keep a very professional demeanour throughout.

JWT has worked with the likes of Nestlé, BMW and ING Group in the past. Their new website is amazing, but not quite as amazing as these participants' responses. You can check it out here

Of course, the clip is very random, and the actors very convincing. But for an ad agency based in Amsterdam, who knows if these testees were even actors?

It was only afterwards that I noticed the discrete footer in the final frame: 'All tea and cookies provided during the testing of our new website were 100% legal. In Amsterdam.'

Ah. It all makes sense now...
