Is This The Egg McMuffin Of Ads?

You have to hand it to Arnold Worldwide. Why? Well, first off using 'Egg McMuffin' as a byword for 'the best of the best' in its latest commercial for McDonald's takes a lot of nerve.
In fact, suggesting that an Egg McMuffin is the gold standard of anything is as daft as labelling it as a healthy breakfast alternative. It is about as easy to swallow as the product itself.
However, in doing so the Boston agency has not only come up with one of the funniest (and ironic) ad campaigns of all time, but they have also created a new social media phenomenon.
Yep, since the ad was released back in December 29, the term 'the Egg McMuffin Of...' has now slipped into common social media parlance.
According to the Boston Globe, the term has been used in 11,000 tweets and 1,200 Facebook mentions, each with varying degrees of sincerity.
So no matter how funny you think the ad (below) is, Arnold has created a tagline that will linger a lot longer in the memory than the ad itself.
