Volkswagen's The Force Poised To Become Most Shared Ad Of All Time
The Force really is strong at Volkswagen this week, with its ad for the 2012 Passat almost certain to become the most shared ad of all time in the next few days (possibly hours).
The ad - in which a youngster dressed as a mini Darth Vader unsuccessfully tries to use The Force around his house - has been breaking records left, right and centre since it was released last week in the build-up to the Super Bowl.
But now it seems only something as huge as the Death Star can stop the ad from overtaking the Evian babies commercial to claim top spot.
Looking at the Viral Video Chart's top 20 global ads of all time rankings, The Force has overtaken both Nike's Write The Future and DC Shoes' Ken Block's Gymkhana Three ads in the last 24 hours to claim the runners-up spot.
But knowing Darth's hunger for power and glory, we know that he will not be happy finishing second to some freaky-looking babies.
As we write, the ad has been shared 638,939 times on Facebook, Twitter and the blogosphere, about 26,000 behind Evian's ad.
At its current rate, it should not be long before it overtakes Evian completely.
It seems it is its destiny.
